Natural sightsThe STEINSDALSFOSSEN waterfall is situated right outside Norheimsund in the direction of Bergen, and is the only waterfall in Northern Europe that can be seen both from the front and back side.
GOLD FISH LAKE The Skårsvatnet lake is famous for its population of gold orfe. This species was brought in by the leper doctor Armauer Hansen and released in the Skårsvatnet lake in the 1920es as a research experiment. This place has become so popular for picnics and small trips that the authorities have built a nice parking place and access area for visitors. The FYKSESUNDET fjord is the second narrowest fjord in Norway. Around it the tall mountain tops ensure a powerful impression. We think that the fjord is best seen from a boat. Wind cannot easily enter here, and the sea is calm. The mountain tops are mirrored in the water, creating an optic distance of 1600 meter! VIEW FROM BJØRKE From Bjørke the view is spectacular. Here you can see many silhouettes along the fjord all the way to Varaldsøy. You can reach it by car. Just before Steinstø, where the road passes over the main road, turn right. By the school turn right and follow the hairpin turns to the top. |
THROUGH NESHAGEN TO BØRVE
On a roundtrip in the near surroundings you will pass by one of the biggest oak trees in the country. From the trails you pass an orchard, a farm with a riding centre and reach the golf range. The forest trail starts by the first turn on the road to Neshagen, just across the road and above the reception building. After 200 meter you can see the protected oak. In total, there are 13 hollow oaks in these woods. On top of the hill you find the Neshagen cabins with a beautiful view of the Hardanger fjord. From here you can walk through an orchard and reach the riding centre at the Børve farm. Follow the road past the riding hall to the golf range. From there you can take the old trail back down to Hardanger Feriesenter. |
